Massage Therapies

Remedial Massage is effective because it stimulates the flow of blood to the tissues, which allows toxins that have built up in the muscles due to overuse or injury to be removed, which speeds up the repair process. It also improves joint mobility and flexibility through the active release of specific muscle groups that may be reducing normal range of motion.

Some of the problems that remedial massage can help with include;
  • Muscular pain and stiffness
  • Reduced or restricted movement
  • Muscular injuries whether acute or chronic
  • Headaches and Migraine
  • Lower Back Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Shoulder and elbow injuries
  • Knee and ankle dysfunction
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Deep-Tissue Massage concentrates on deeper and often more long-term, chronic problems of the soft tissue. The treatment is generally deeper and firmer. After Deep-Tissue massage, patients generally experience longer lasting relief from the pain and discomfort associated with chronic, tight or imbalanced muscles.

Sports Massage offers benefits for all kinds of athletes and is generally a firmer massage that works specifically with sporting injuries and ailments.

Relaxation Massage is ideal for people who need a little help to unwind and de-stress. Stress can affect the body in many ways causing muscles to become tense and painful. A Relaxation Massage will assist you to relax, rejuvenate and achieve mind-body balance. This type of massage treatment is designed to calm the nervous system, improve circulation and facilitate deep relaxation.

Pregnancy Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension-which can help you achieve a better sleep, and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

Trigger-Point Therapy is a treatment specifically targeting painful or hyper-irritable points in myofascial tissue or the muscle itself, using focused pressure on the trigger point until the point releases. Such points can occur anywhere in the body, but are more commonly found in the neck and shoulder regions, mid thoracic region and the larger muscles of the gluteal region.

Myofascial Release concentrates on the fascia of the muscle which surrounds each individual muscle.. It is denser and more rigid than muscle tissue, and can often inhibit mobility. Restricted fascia is commonly the result of acute injury. The treatment of fascia is different from traditional muscle-focused strokes; it is a slow, deep technique and little oil is used.

Hot Stone Massage uses stones that are flat, smooth, heated volcanic rocks that are used in your massage treatment to produce deeper relaxation and to relax your muscles. The rocks can be used either by placing them on a specific area of the body for local muscle relaxation, or used as part of a gliding stroke to add a little warmth and relaxation to your massage.
